A dashboard section is missing for me — is that a bug?
No — several sections need a specific permission (Financial Health needs finance access, Inventory Snapshot needs inventory access, Mill Tasks needs process access, Recent Activity needs a user-management permission). If you don’t have that permission, the section simply doesn’t show.
Why don’t Financial Health/Reconciliation change when I pick a different date range?
They’re intentionally all-time figures, independent of any date filter on the dashboard — only the charts (volume, top products, trade type) respond to the date range.
I don’t see a search icon in the header — where’s search?
The search icon (and the / shortcut) needs at least one of two permissions: GLOBAL_SEARCH_ACCESS (for Records mode) or QUICK_SEARCH_ACCESS (for Stock mode). By default only Admins have either — ask your Admin to grant one or both to your role via Manage Roles if you need it.
What’s the difference between Records mode and Stock mode?
Both live inside the same Unified Search dialog (press /), as two of its four modes. Records finds a specific record — a Stock Unit, Consignment, Business Partner, Product, Location, or User — by name or reference number. Stock is different: it’s for finding available inventory by physical dimensions (size, species, origin, quality), like “4in x 3in x 8ft teak”. Use Records when you know what record you’re looking for; use Stock when you’re asking “do we have any stock like this?” — or just type in Auto mode and it picks the right one for you.
I have the search icon but only see some of the four modes — why?
Records and Stock modes each need their own separate permission (GLOBAL_SEARCH_ACCESS and QUICK_SEARCH_ACCESS) — by default only Admins have either. A mode button only appears if you have that mode’s permission; Calculator is always available once you can open the dialog at all.
Why is “Ask AI” greyed out or missing inside Stock mode?
Ask AI requires the Forest subscription plan. On lower plans, the regular (non-AI) Stock search still works normally, with no credit cost.
Does Ask AI cost anything if I don’t like the answer?
Yes — like AI Import for tally sheets, AI credits are consumed once the request is processed, regardless of whether the results are useful.
What happens when I run low on AI credits?
You’ll see a warning at 80%, 90%, 95%, and 100% of your plan’s AI credit limit used. Once credits run out, Ask AI stops working until the next billing cycle or a plan upgrade — the regular Stock search keeps working with no credit cost.
I remember search opening with Ctrl+K — why doesn’t that work anymore?
Ctrl+K was removed. Unified Search (which now covers what used to be two separate dialogs, Quick Search and Global Search) opens with / only, or by clicking the search icon in the header.
How do I see the Product Tour again after dismissing it?
Click the ? help icon in the header, or open your profile menu (top right) and click Product Tour — either one restarts the guided walkthrough from the beginning. If you don’t see the Product Tour item or the ?, product tours are switched off for everyone right now.
Why does the tour not show again on my new phone?
A tour you have seen, skipped or closed is remembered for your account, not your device — so it never shows twice, on any device.
Why did I land on Tally Sheets and not the Dashboard after logging in?
Your role doesn’t include the Dashboard, so LumberLinq opened the first page you are allowed to use. To ask for more pages, open the page you need and press Request access — your company admin gets a notification.
Do I need to refresh a page to see my colleague’s change?
No. Shared screens (Command Center, Inventory, Stock Statement, Processing, Dashboards, tickets and more) update by themselves a moment after the change is saved.
Why do my Cost Estimate results look wrong?
Almost always a unit mismatch — check every unit field carefully, especially when different rows use different units.
What happens when my storage quota is full?
New file uploads will fail until you upgrade your plan or delete files you no longer need.
A file upload keeps failing even though I have free space — what should I try?
Use the Refresh button on the Storage page and try again. If the file is very large, it may simply be timing out — try compressing or splitting it.
What should I include in a support ticket for a faster response?
The exact module and action, the Stock Unit ID / Consignment BL number / tally reference involved, the product or business partner name, a screenshot, and your Company ID (found in Company Profile → Identity tab).
Who can see my support tickets?
All admins on your account, plus the user who created the ticket.
Where do I find my Company ID to include in a ticket?
Company Profile → Identity tab.
I pressed Ctrl+V and nothing happened.
Copy the file itself (not just its name or path). Click the upload button you want to use first, then press Ctrl+V — or press Ctrl+V on an empty part of the page to open the Where should these files go? sheet. It does not open while you are typing in a text box or while another dialog is open. If a button says “Pasted file not accepted”, that button does not take that file type.
Can I send a WhatsApp document or photo straight to LumberLinq?
On the Android app, yes: open the file in WhatsApp, tap Share and choose LumberLinq. WhatsApp has no Copy for documents, so Share is the way. It is not available on iPhone yet — save the file first and upload it in the usual way.
“Consignment documents” (or another place) is missing from the sheet.
The sheet only lists places your account may upload to — for example, Consignment documents need access to Consignments plus the right to add or edit them. AI Import is greyed out when none of the files is a photo or PDF. Ask your admin if you need access.
My waiting files disappeared.
Waiting files are kept for up to 12 hours, for the same person and company. They are removed when you attach or discard them, log out, or sign in as someone else or in another company.
